For the first time in the history of the State, Atheist Ireland, the Evangelical Alliance of Ireland, and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Ireland united to start a campaign for Separation of Religion and State.

The Minister for Education has said she will remove Rule 68 in January. This is the rule that obliges schools to permeate religion throughout the curriculum. Michael Nugent debated this with David Quinn of the Iona Institute on Newstalk Lunchtime on 9 December 2015.

Jane Donnelly, Atheist Ireland’s Human Rights Officer, explains that parents have a constitutional right to opt their child out of religion classes in Irish schools. Jane was talking on Newstalk Radio on 23 November 2015.
